The next version of WhatsApp will make it easier for you to style you text
The next WhatsApp update will make it easy to style your text while you type. Currently WhatsApp uses a geeky language called markdown for styling text. If for example you want to italicize your text you will have to type _italic_ or *bold* to make the text bold.
WhatsApp is bringing a new time saving trick that lets you format highlighted text easily. The new feature will be a drop down menu that lets you style highlighted text. It is currently in beta testing on WhatsApp 2.17.148. The feature is only available on android but we hope it will come to iPhones later this year.
Markdown is a really cool technology but it is very easy to forget the symbols used for formatting text. This new development will go a long way in helping users focus on sharing and connecting without taking too much time to learn about those silly symbols.
WhatsApp has over 1.2 billion users and is owned by Facebook. This development is welcome and we hope it will help them retain their users in the face of competition from other platforms such as WeChat
