How secure is your whatsapp Application
We have been getting a lot of messages from people asking this question, Is our Whatsapp Application Secure from hackers?
Well after doing a lot of research on the Instant messenger we found that for now, the messenger with over one billion daily active users around the world who transfer over 55 billion messages with Over 4.5 billion photos are shared around the world on WhatsApp every day. The company confirmed that it is safe from Hackers and MIM (Man in the Middle) attacks.
The messenger uses a The Signal Protocol which is a non-federated cryptographic protocol that can be used to provide end-to-end encryption for voice calls, video calls, and instant messaging conversations. Before all users have updated to the latest version of the software for their platform(WhatsApp), there will still be some plaintext on the network. To make this transition as clear as possible, WhatsApp clients notify users when their chats become the end to end encrypted.
WhatsApp uses a customized version of the open standard Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP). Which makes it more secure from attackers.
The Facebook owned Whatsapp stated that Messages between WhatsApp users are protected with an end-to-end encryption protocol so that third parties and WhatsApp cannot read them and so that the messages can only be decrypted by the recipient. All types of WhatsApp messages (including chats, group chats, images, videos, voice messages, and files) and WhatsApp calls are protected by end-to-end encryption. WhatsApp servers do not have access to the private keys of WhatsApp users and WhatsApp users have the option to verify keys in order to ensure the integrity of their communication.
Speaking to one of the co-founder of Shirishanu today he said ” … even the whatsapp owners can not decryprt the encrypted messages shared under e2e (end to end encryption)”.
Please note: Always use upto to date software/application on your gadgets to avoid being hacked…
