What caused Zimbabwe Internet Outage

It is reported that yesterday 05 December 2017 Liquid Telecomms Zimbabwe upstream provider (Infraco) confirmed a fiber break at 11:48hrs between Beitbridge and Louis Trichardt (SA). The Fiber Breakage was caused by a   tractor that was ploughing a field in South Africa  which cut through some fiber owned by one of Liquid Telecom Zimbabwe’s suppliers, the Core Internet Service ZW which was affected is the upstream  shared by Telone and LTZ.

“Econet Wireless apologizes to its valued customers for the data outage experienced today (Dec 5, 2017) resulting in customers being unable to access the Internet and related data services on our network. the outage was due to a technical fault which has since been resolved. Econet sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience caused.” said the company spokesman

Internet speed is expected to be slow while engineers are working on restoring full internet connectivity.
