Today seems to be the day, as WhatsApp Business is currently available in Zimbabwe on the Google PlayStore.
Who is WhatsApp Business for?
WhatsApp Business is purely meant for businesses. It has been designed from the ground up to offer a concierge-like service for customers and will only be used by business owners. WhatsApp Business simply provides an app or platform for businesses to interact better with their customers by providing updates, support and basically the option to run their business off their mobile phones, on WhatsApp, instead of heading elsewhere online. In short, the customer will use the regular, WhatsApp app, while the business owner or manager uses the WhatsApp Business app.
Eyetro Digital downloaded and installed WhatsApp Business to get a flavour of how the platform works. Here is a quick overview. WhatsApp Business is currently free to use. Let’s just take a deep dive into what the business app offers the standard WhatsApp app and then look into setting it up and getting your business profile up and running.
Step 1 Search for ‘WhatsApp Busines’ and download the app from Google Play Store.
Step 2 Accept terms and conditions without reading them.
Step 3 Register on WhatsApp business with a number that is not linked to any other WhatsApp account and enter business information.
If your number is linked to a WhatsApp account you can choose to back up that data, give up that number for personal use and flip it into a business account. Users are then required to pick a name for their business. Name once chosen cannot be changed, though.
Step 4 Start engaging with users and monitor activity
WhatsApp had mentioned that users would be able to add a business description, email or store addresses, and website information. This feature is available in business settings.
The other good thing about Whatsapp Business is that it lets you track your business transactions on every persons/business you are dealing with.
