WhatsApp rolled out this new update on its 8th birthday, April 5, 2017. WhatsApp claims that it rolled out this update to replace its old “text only” status. This feature has made it easier for users to share photos and videos rather than typing status updates but it has also come with problems that some people you don’t want to view your status can, and some are said to be stalkers, However, if you want to check WhatsApp status of others without letting them know then you can do so with the following methods.
Method 1: Use the privacy setting in your WhatsApp. Access the settings, click on accounts, choose privacy, disable the “Read receipts”, untick this option.
You too will not be able to see those that see your statuses when you update. You will always have 0 Views which I do not think you will be comfortable with given the fact that we all want to be able to see how many people check on us. It will also mean that you will not be seeing blue ticks in your WhatsApp messages. The message will remain with that dull grey colour whether it has been read or not.
Method 2: This works only for those with File managers on their Android Phones. The only thing you require is access to hidden files. As ES File Explorer has this feature for their free users
Step 1: Open File Manager’ settings on your Android phone
Step 2: Turn on the option to show hidden files.
Step 3: Go to WhatsApp media folder. It is inside WhatsApp folder of the internal storage of your phone.
Step 4: Open Media then tap “Statuses” folder.
The next method is what Eyetro Digital suggest to all those who want to view WhatsApp Status’ privately:
Step 1: Install Xposed Module WhatsApp Extensions.
Step 2: Activate this module and reboot your phone.
Step 3: Open the module and check “turn off read receipts” option.
Now you can view WhatsApp statuses of your friends without letting them know. At the same time, you will also be able to view who viewed your status updates.
