The mobile penetration rate in Zimbabwe is growing steadily over the last 10 years with a lot of people now having access to mobile phones especially, Android smartphones.

According to Telecoms Regulator, Potraz, active mobile penetration rate as at 31 December 2017 was 102.7% which represented a 7.9% growth from 94.8% recorded in 2016. The 7.9% growth of active mobile subscribers also contributed to the growth of Internet usage in Zimbabwe of 15.4 billion Megabytes last year.

A lot of people are now carrying smartphones in their pockets but some, in fact, a majority only use these smartphones for social media i.e. WhatsApp and Facebook. On average every 10mins a smartphone user checks their phone twice for mostly Instant Messenger messages.

What is a smartphone? A smartphone is a handheld personal computer with a mobile operating system and an integrated mobile broadband cellular network connection for voice, SMS, and Internet data communication; most if not all smartphones also support Wi-Fi.

These devices are able to run a variety of software components, known as “apps”. Most basic apps (e.g. event calendar, camera, web browser) come pre-installed with the system, while others are available for download from official sources like the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

Android and iOS have pre-installed apps on them, StatCounter reported that Android is the most used Operating system as at February 2018 Zimbabwe’s Mobile Operating System Market Share with 76.92%.

Android has mostly preferred OS in Zimbabwe because of it being an open system meaning one can install most apps on their smartphone for free and from any source.

Most of the users who own these gadgets they underestimated the power of a Smartphone. We are going to share on how useful your smartphone can be to make your life easier and to cut costs.

In this life full of millennials, if you want anything says, to go buy your favourite clothing, gadgets and looking for a service, we first check on the Internet if the service or goods are available in your area.

Did you know that you cut your cost, by just knowing what you want to do, say you have been requested to go send your CVs, paperwork to someone in need of them? Queuing at a local bookshop to pay for an amount on something that you have already on your pocket.

We discovered an application (CamScanner) that can save your time and money if you want to scan your documents in the comfort of your house. Here are a few steps to accomplish the scanning of documents and converting them into .pdf format.

Step 1: Open Google Play store.

Step 2: Search for “Scanner app Free for Documents.”
