Before we explain how to activate Instagram’s Two-Factor Authentication, we need to know why it’s important to do everything you can to improve your online account security. With so much of our lives happening on mobile devices and laptops, it’s no wonder our digital accounts have become a magnet for criminals.
In recent years, we’ve witnessed a massive increase in the number of Social Media accounts/ Websites losing personal data of their users. And as cybercrime gets more sophisticated, companies find their old security systems are no match for modern threats and attacks.
Simple human error that has left them exposed. And it’s not just user trust that can be damaged. All types of organizations global companies, small businesses, start-ups, and even non-profits can suffer severe financial and reputational loss.
Two-factor authentication adds an additional layer of security to the authentication process by making it harder for attackers to gain access to a person’s devices or online accounts, because knowing the victim’s password alone is not enough to pass the authentication check.
Step 1: Tap settings on your Instagram app.
Step 2: Scroll down to Two-Factor Authentication. You’ll find a new toggle for Text Message and Authentication App.
Step 3: Turn it on (Text Message/ Authentication App) and you’ll be taken through the steps to approve a new app.
Authentication App. Turn it on and you’ll be taken through the steps to approve a new app. Instagram either suggests you install an app for this (by default, it takes you to the Google Authenticator listing on the Play Store).
