WhatsApp has broken down, just a day after Facebook announced it would restrict some forwarding features to crack down on ‘fake news.’
Users around the world, on both iOS and Android, have been unable to log into the app at all on Tuesday. Those fortunate enough to open the program could not send or receive messages.
The problems did not appear to be affecting every user of the site, with some able to get onto both the app and its desktop and web versions.
WhatsApp does not maintain a status website to check the availability of its platform or when those will be fixed.
The cause of the outage is unknown.
