Microsoft ends Windows 7 support, What does this mean?
It’s now 10 years since the release of Microsoft’s Windows 7 on October 22, 2009, with a lot of people still prefer Windows 7 to Windows 10 as to date for its best Performance, Stability and Simplicity features.
According to statcounter Windows 7 was rated the 2nd best Microsoft’s OS with 35.63% market share as at December 2018. After all said and done the developers of Windows 7 Microsoft announced that they will end support to the Operating System.
“All good things must come to an end, even Windows 7. After January 14, 2020.” Said Microsoft.
What this actually mean is that you can continue using the OS by Microsoft but it will no longer send you security updates.
Without the latest security updates it means that your computer will be so vulnerable to viruses, hacks and other threats, but your Windows 7 will keep running on your computer.
According to Microsoft, “Windows 7 can still be installed and activated after the end of support; however, it will be more vulnerable to security risks and viruses due to the lack of security updates.
“After January 14, 2020, Microsoft strongly recommends that you use Windows 10 instead of Windows 7.”
It’s important that you upgrade to a modern operating system such as Windows 10, which can provide the latest security updates to help keep you and your data safer.
In addition, Microsoft customer service will no longer be available to provide Windows 7 technical support.
