WhatsApp to give users option to accept, decline group invites
As much as the feature enables ease of communication among people of similar interest, there is an annoying problem about it.
That is people being added to random groups without their consent, and they cannot leave due to embarrassment and fear of being judged.
But there is some good news to this effect according to WhatsApp news website, WABetaInfo. WhatsApp is apparently developing an option within its settings that will allow one to manage how they get invited by others to groups.
The feature which is yet to be launched will be available under the privacy settings as an option.
Once the feature is enabled, the ‘Group’ option will allow one to let either everyone, their contacts or no one at all to add them to groups.
When the setting is activated, group admins can only send people requests to join a group which then one can choose to accept or decline.
However, those requests have an expiry period of 72 hours after the time of a request.
The introduction of the feature is expected to be welcomed by WhatsApp users around the world who on many occasions have found themselves added to groups without their consent.
This has been a perennial problem that WhatsApp has had for a while now and it is great that they are working on a clean fix.
