When people hear “Facebook” the thing which comes to the mind of people in the Facebook app but in reality, Facebook is a company that owns many apps. Facebook has unveiled an updated design for its corporate logo.
Facebook wants people to be able to distinguish easily the company and its product which is the Facebook app. Facebook owns Whatsapp, Instagram, Messenger, and Oculus.
Facebook began this effort earlier this year when it added “Instagram from Facebook” and “WhatsApp from Facebook” to both apps, but the new branding makes the message even more pronounced.
Chief Marketing Officer of Facebook Antonio Lucio made the issue clearer in an interview where he was asked about the reasons for the new logo.
“All the research that we’ve had from Generation Z and millennial was all very emphatic as they need to know where their brands come from,” Lucio said in an interview. “We needed to be more transparent with our users in showcasing that everything is coming from the same company.”
Most people don’t know that Instagram and WhatsApp are Facebook-owned he cited a Pew Research study that found only 29% of Americans knew Facebook-owned both apps. When people find out, Lucio said it improves that person’s perception of Facebook as a company.
The social media giant has created new corporate branding and a new logo for Facebook Inc. to distinguish Facebook the corporation from the company’s popular social network with the same name.
On the login screen and setting pages of Whatsapp, Instagram, Messenger, and Oculus will appear in the new logo. The move is meant for people to have a clear picture of what Facebook really is to all the apps.
