Recovering your stolen smartphone has been made possible and it’s all thanks to the digital era we now live. Smartphones that are being made nowadays are becoming hard to erase its IMEI number which is good news because your phone is only traceable with the IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number.

Brands like iPhones, Samsung, Huawei, and Tekno are amongst the device which is not easy to delete the IMEI number.

Your phone is bought with the IMEI which is considered to be its identity which can be made only by the manufacturer as they consider it to be a child of theirs more like a fingerprint. You can access the code in the packaging box that comes with the phone or dial *#06#, a command to make the unique ID appear. Another easy way to find the IMEI number is to navigate through “Settings” and tap “About Phone” to check the IMEI code of your Android phone.

When your device is stolen you have to report it to the police where they will record the account of how the phone was stolen. They will tell you the next step you will have to take which can be asking you to visit a special office where there are specially trained officers for your case.

In the office you will be referred to is you will be given the investigative officer who will be managing your case of recovering your device. The officer will ask for the IMEI number of your device.

The investigator will need the phone number of the line that the phone was using. For phones that are not dual, there is only one IMEI number but for the dual phone there is an IMEI for each sim port. When giving it make sure you are giving the proper information because it will make the recovering process quick.

When giving the IMEI number make sure you give the one which was being used by the phone number you are giving to the officers.

The officer will tell you to come and check on him after a month because in those days he/she will have sent the IMEI number to your network provider so that the person who is using your mobile phone will be identified.

For your phone to be recovered very fast you will have to show how serious you are in wanting your device recovered by constantly contacting the officer to check on him/her on the progress made because he/she will not be working on recovering your device only.

Many phone dealers in town nowadays do not just buy a headset because they have made huge losses as many phones are being recovered in their hands.
