It’s A Smartphone On A Camera: Galaxy S20

Samsung launched its new flagship Galaxy S20 smartphones which we believe will outshine the Huawei Mate P30 and the iPhone 11 Max Pro. The S20 family was unpacked at a 2020 event in San Francisco. The new 20 Series lineup is made of the Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra.

These new devices all sport overhauled camera systems and 5G connectivity in addition to improved display technology and its shape which came differently from the previous smartphone which the company once released.

The Samsung Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra offer 6.2-inch, 6.7-inch, and 6.9-inch OLED displays respectively, each with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz.

These smartphones will also offer 5G connectivity, although it is unclear whether 5G models of the new smartphones will be available in Africa since the continent doesn’t have much coverage on 5G based networks.

Samsung’s Galaxy S20 Ultra is the flagship of the range, offering a highly-advanced camera system with up to 100x Super Resolution zoom.

“As we enter this new decade, 5G will completely change how we communicate and how we experience the world around us,” said Samsung President and Head of Mobile Communications Business Dr TM Roh.

“As all three Galaxy S20 variants come with 5G connectivity, Samsung is providing a next-generation device for transforming people’s lives.”

“With an incredible, AI-powered camera, you can capture the moments as they happen and connect more seamlessly with the people you love,” he said.

The Galaxy S20 Ultra boasts a quad-lens primary camera with a 108MP primary sensor, allowing for ultra-high resolution photos. All of the new Galaxy S20 devices also boast camera systems that can record high-quality 8K video.

The smartphones are powered by Samsung’s Exynos 990 chipset, which can be paired with a 5G modem for high-speed connectivity. Samsung’s Galaxy S20 Ultra also boasts 12GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, expandable via a MicroSD card to 1 terabyte.

The Galaxy S20 Ultra also boasts 10x telephoto zoom and a dedicated TOF lens which delivers improved depth sensor effects. The 3 S-series will be available in three colours – Cosmic Grey, Cloud Blue, Cosmic Black. The smartphones will launch on 6 March 2020.
