BancABC launched the City Hopper Service on 17 September 2020, a solution for sending and receiving of foreign currency across Zimbabwe, since the service will be available for both BancABC customers and those who are not customers of the bank.

The BancABC CEO, Lance Mambondiani said that the City Hopper service offers the safest and quickest way to transfer foreign currency across cities and its a solution to the challenge of sending money across the towns in Zimbabwe. The City Hopper Service will be operating just like the international money transfer systems like World Remit and Western Union but, it only works in Zimbabwe and allows customers to transfer foreign currency within the country.

The service is will be offered at all BancABC branches as well as the BancABC kiosks in Pick n Pay stores, for customers convenience in the collection of their money, since the Pick n Pay stores are located in many towns countrywide, however, the BancABC team is still working on the advancement of the service to reach almost every Pick n Pay store in Zimbabwe because the service is not yet available in some BankABC kiosks.

For one to send money, he or she must fill the following details on the deposit slip: the national I.D number, phone number and the physical address, the receiver will receive the notification instantly via SMS. For the receiver to collect their money, he or she has to provide the national I.D and the reference number to the tellers or agents of BancABC.People can send money from as little as $10US.

BancABC CEO and his team are developing the bank’s system which is more efficient to the customers and the national at large. The new service has come as a solution especially during this time where the country is in economic crisis and people are struggling to send foreign currency to their beloved ones without being changed extra money.
