Useful USSD codes one should always remember

  • quick codes allow users to directly communicate with their service provider’s computers,
  • USSD codes usually start with a * followed by a sequence of numbers then end with a #.

Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD), is an extra UI protocol, which allows people to get access to the hidden features. They are also called quick code or feature codes which allow users to access back-end features in their devices. These codes they vary from version and types of devices like Android and some will work iOS while some code works on both devices.

To restrict Caller ID Android and iOS users should dial *31# and press the call button. People might hide their Caller ID intentionally or it can be accidental but after making a call or receiving. You might have received a call from an unknown number. The caller might have hidden the ID intentionally or sometimes it can be accidental. To reveal caller ID Android users should dial #31# and press the call button.


For call forwarding settings one should dial *#67#, iOS users should dial *#21# and press the call key. These codes allow users to check which number your phone is currently forwarding calls to when you’re busy or reject a call. To get more information on Call Forwarding users should dial *#61#.On the Galaxy phone, this will show how long it takes before the call is forwarded.

Activating call Waiting, Android and iOS users should dial *43# and press the dial key. This code activates and deactivates call waiting. If someone receives an incoming call while you are answering another call, the caller will be prompted to wait. By dialling the quick code dialling *43# iOS users will set as well as checking the status of Voice call waiting, Data call waiting, Fax call waiting, SMS call waiting and Sync data circuit call waiting.

The USSD codes for General Test mode is #0#, this code is only useful for Android users.It prompts a library of different Galaxy phone operations, the code will allow users to chose and select the mode on which they want to operate on for instance Sleep mode, Front Cam, Vibration.

USSD codes help the user to improve the performance of their devices as well as improving their interaction with other users. However, these quick codes operate normally on other devices and they might be harmful to other devices and they end up damaging the device’s systems instead of restoring normal operations.
