Many people may not understand this but a cell phone battery comes with a lifespan. It deteriorates with time, the older the phone, the worse it’s battery becomes. Although it may be inevitable that your phone’s battery will drop in performance in the long run, here are several simple ways that you can make use of to prolong its lifespan.

Since you cannot take the phone out of your hands, make sure it consumes the least amount of power by enabling auto-brightness. Auto- brightness adjusts the brightness to the setting that looks readable for example when it’s dark it deems the screen light saving your batteries life.

One of the biggest battery drainers is the vibration mode. You may prefer your smartphone to vibrate when receiving messages, notifications and calls, this might be costing you your phones battery life. The mode makes the phone move which requires a lot of power as compared to ring mode. Disable this feature unless it’s completely necessary. Majority of smartphones being made these days come with a power-saving mode, made use of it to prolong your battery. Just in case your phone does not have one download a  power-saving application on google play store.

Considering long-lasting battery life is something we all look out for before we purchase our smartphones, here are the major habits that you may be making which are slaughtering the battery of your mobile.

Have you ever found yourself laying on the couch in the middle off the night to use your mobile while it’s charging? you are not alone. To be realistic, we have all become so addicted to our smartphones for various differing reasons so much, we can barely leave them aside. This bad habit affects battery lifespan as it makes your smartphone overheat, killing battery cells in the processes thereby reducing its capabilities.

Leaving your smartphone connected to a charger overnight might sound like a good idea but it is not. Letting your phone continue to charge after it has arrived at 100% will do more harm than good to your gadget’s battery. It will warm up the battery, prompting the battery to bulge out lessening its effectiveness. Hence when you next think about Letting your phone sleep on A charger, don’t forget to wake up and remove it.

In Zimbabwe electricity cuts are rampant during the rainy season hence you may be continuously plugging in your charger even when the battery percentage is still above 80 per cent. However, constantly charging your gadget is not ideal. It is recommended that you let your phone discharge at least 40 per cent before plugging it in. Unnecessarily and frequently charging your phone shortens the lifespan of the battery hence it would be wise to desist from this tendency.

Lastly, the main key behind maintaining a Smartphones battery is to avoid it getting too high temperatures as heat greatly damages the batteries cells and consequently killing the battery slowly. To add on cold temperatures damage the battery faster hence it is advised it maintains room temperatures.
