- How to get assistance from Microsoft.
Microsoft has officially ended support for its edge legacy browser application and will no longer receive security updates going forward. The American multinational technology company made the announcement in a blog post on 8 March 2020.
“Today, Microsoft Edge Legacy desktop application support officially ends, and it will no longer receive future security updates.”
“Additionally, we announced that the now out-of-support Microsoft Edge Legacy desktop application will be removed and replaced with the new Microsoft Edge when customers apply April’s Windows 10 cumulative monthly security update (or ‘B’ release),” the company said.
This means that the old edge will automatically be upgraded with the new chromium-based edge browser for desktop when you upgrade your windows 10 with April’s upcoming security update.
If somehow, it is not installed on your computer, you can simply download it on their website. If you encounter further issues in getting the new edge you can also contact Microsoft app assure team and remediate them at no extra cost via email by submitting your request to [email protected].
Perhaps you are like me and not interested in continuing to use the Microsoft browser you can simply uninstall it and use other alternatives such as googles chrome browser, firefox, and opera
