WhatsApp is developing a new verification feature that will allow users to automatically verify their phone number when they try to log into their account.
According to WABetaInfo.com (who make reliable announcements about WhatsApp), WhatsApp will first ask you for permission to access your call logs, then call (beep) your number and end the immediately hence the name flash call. The platform will automatically see if you received the call in your call log and give you access to your account.
The new verification feature will add to our usual call and SMS verification options but the flash call is better because it eliminates human error that can lead to sharing or theft of verification codes and accounts thus it certainly adds more security to the platform.
The feature is still being developed and will be available in future updates and will be optional.
