Facebook recently announced that it will be increasing the value-added tax (VAT) rate for advertisers in Zimbabwe from 14.5% to 15% starting on January 1, 2023. This change affects all advertisers in the business country of Zimbabwe who purchase advertising services after September 1, 2020.
Although businesses in Zimbabwe are not required to enter a tax ID when purchasing ads, those who are registered for VAT can provide their tax ID and have it appear on their ad receipts. This may help them recover any VAT paid to the Zimbabwe tax authorities.
Facebook’s decision to increase the VAT rate is part of its effort to comply with local laws and regulations in countries where it operates. The company encourages all advertisers in Zimbabwe to familiarize themselves with the new rate and make sure they are compliant with local laws and regulations.
